After the iconic Turquoise Cottage moved out of its original location in Adchini, it has been renamed 100% Rock. It has just opened in Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, while outside Delhi it is in Jaipur. You can’t keep a good product down, as they say, and in spite of litigations and changes of name, the original concept has triumphed over everything. Now in a bigger, brighter avatar (the Adchini avatar suffers from a perennial lack of space or you could say that it was perpetually crowded beyond its capacity), even its double storied location in a mall has done nothing to take away the USP of the brand. Say Sonia and Manu Mohindra, the couple who set up the brand all those years ago, “It is the quintessential neighbourhood pub. You go casually dressed, you eat good food that is not pretentious and you have a great time. Over the years, the fellow guests get to become acquainted with you in varying degrees, so it works something like a club, though that is incidental. If there is one word that is identified with the brand, it is the casual unpretentiousness of it, so unlike other places in Delhi.”
